Baby Jail

We've gotten to the point where the littlest one likes to explore. After finding him coated in All Spice many times, I decided it was time to deny access to the kitchen where the pantry, garbage and recycling bins were. Obviously this meant the end of fun for my son.
Can't you tell he's super sad?

My husband requested that the baby gates of choice have a swing door so we wouldn't have to step over them every time. We have two small dogs, and while they are small, they seem to weigh a lot, so lifting them over each barrier wasn't really an option. After searching online reviews and heading out to my local Target, here's what I chose:

It seemed a little pricey at $49.99, compared to other gates they had in stock, but it was the only one that had the prerequisite of a swinging door. I also liked the fact that it includes an extension for irregular doorways. You can pressure fit this too, so you don't have to drill into your door frame - well, unless you put the gate at the top of stairs or right in front of your glass shard room.
The Munchkin Easy-Close Metal Gate is simple to use. My 3 year old can open this like a pro... and she spent about an hour playing with it right when I put it up. Now I wonder how long it will take the little one to figure out how to open it.
Here's a quick close up of the pressure fit end, in our irregular door frame. Very nice. It took a couple minutes to figure out where it should ultimately be placed, but it's safe and secure now.
