My husband requested that the baby gates of choice have a swing door so we wouldn't have to step over them every time. We have two small dogs, and while they are small, they seem to weigh a lot, so lifting them over each barrier wasn't really an option. After searching online reviews and heading out to my local Target, here's what I chose:
It seemed a little pricey at $49.99, compared to other gates they had in stock, but it was the only one that had the prerequisite of a swinging door. I also liked the fact that it includes an extension for irregular doorways. You can pressure fit this too, so you don't have to drill into your door frame - well, unless you put the gate at the top of stairs or right in front of your glass shard room. The Munchkin Easy-Close Metal Gate is simple to use. My 3 year old can open this like a pro... and she spent about an hour playing with it right when I put it up. Now I wonder how long it will take the little one to figure out how to open it. Here's a quick close up of the pressure fit end, in our irregular door frame. Very nice. It took a couple minutes to figure out where it should ultimately be placed, but it's safe and secure now.
